EDUCATION PACKAGE

Indigenous Projects & Events offers four customizable packages for K-12 schools to engage students and educators in meaningful Indigenous cultural experiences and reconciliation education. Each package provides immersive opportunities for students and staff to learn directly from Indigenous knowledge keepers, Elders, and artists.

Brazilian Girls

Cultural Connection Package

OBJECTIVE: Introduce students to Indigenous cultural practices through storytelling, music, dance, and hands-on art workshops.

 

INCLUSIONS:

Storytelling Sessions: Led by Indigenous knowledge keepers, focusing on traditional stories and teachings.

Drumming and Dance Performances: Live performances showcasing music and dance as integral parts of Indigenous culture.

Art and Craft Workshops: Hands-on activities such as beading, weaving, or painting, emphasizing the symbolism and meaning of Indigenous art.

 

DURATION: Half-day or full-day options available.

Recommended Grades: K-8

History & Reconciliation Package

OBJECTIVE: Provide an in-depth educational experience focusing on Indigenous history, the impacts of residential schools, and the journey towards reconciliation.

 

INCLUSIONS:

Educational Modules: Covering topics like pre-colonial history, residential schools, and the Truth and Reconciliation Calls to Action. ● Elder Talks and Q&A Sessions: Open discussions with Elders about their experiences and insights on reconciliation.

Reflection Activities: Guided exercises encouraging students to reflect on reconciliation and what it means for their communities.

 

DURATION: 1-3 days, customizable to fit specific curriculum goals.

Recommended Grades: 5-12

Land-Based Learning Package

OBJECTIVE: Connect students to nature and Indigenous perspectives on environmental stewardship through land-based education.

INCLUSIONS:

Nature Walks and Environmental Lessons: Led by Indigenous land stewards, teaching students about plants, animals, and ecological knowledge.

Hands-on Conservation Activities: Interactive activities related to water conservation, traditional medicine plants, and sustainable living practices.

Outdoor Classrooms: Lessons on Indigenous environmental stewardship held in natural settings.

 

DURATION: Full-day experience.

Recommended Grades: 3-12

Audience and Lecturer

Educator Professional Development Package

OBJECTIVE: Empower educators to integrate Indigenous perspectives and culturally responsive practices into their teaching.

 

INCLUSIONS:

Workshops on Indigenous History and Reconciliation: Foundational understanding of Indigenous history and reconciliation principles.

Culturally Responsive Teaching Strategies: Training on creating inclusive classrooms and teaching Indigenous topics sensitively.

Resource Guide: Curated materials for incorporating Indigenous content in classrooms.

 

DURATION: Half-day or full-day workshop options.

10-Month Indigenous Engagement Package

OBJECTIVE: Provide consistent, immersive engagement in Indigenous cultural education throughout the school year. This package is designed to help schools integrate Indigenous perspectives, promote cultural awareness, and support reconciliation efforts on an ongoing basis.

 

Monthly Themes and Activities Each month offers a specific focus area, with interactive activities and culturally guided lessons led by Indigenous Elders, knowledge keepers, or educators.
